Welcome to a new adventure for Thebes Temple. This is the initiation of our website. We hope that you will find it both informative and enlightening. Our hope is that you will explore our website and learn more about Daughters of the Nile and Thebes Temple. If you aren’t a member, we hope that you will find out who we are and what we do by exploring this site and other linked sites. It is our belief that members of Daughters of the Nile are enabled to grow as women who care deeply for one another in times of sorrow and distress as well as rejoice together in the happy times. As a member, you will find a greater inner satisfaction and meaning in your life through giving of yourself to others.
Who are we?
Daughters of the Nile is an International social and philanthropic organization for women 18 years or older who are related by birth or marriage to a Shriner, Master Mason, or Daughter of the Nile or are majority members in Good Standing of a Masonic-related organization for girls.
Founded in 1913 in Seattle, Washington, we now have over 26,000 members and are located in 139 cities throughout the United States and Canada. We have had a single philanthropy since 1923 – Shriners Hospitals for Children®. We are very proud of our long association with the Shriners International and their network of 22 hospitals throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico that specialize in treating orthopedic conditions, burn injuries of all degrees, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate conditions totally without charge to the children and their families.
What do we do?
Daughters of the Nile contributes over $1,700,000 annually to the Shriners Hospitals for Children® to be used for the medical care and rehabilitation of children. Since 1924, Daughters of the Nile has contributed monetary gifts amounting to over $50 million.
In recognition of monetary contributions by Daughters of the Nile, we have placed gold plaques, each representing $1 million, on the philanthropic walls of all 22 hospitals. Twelve hospitals have two gold plaques and three hospitals have three gold plaques.
If you are interested in becoming a member of this dynamic and dedicated fraternal order for women, please contact any member for further information or refer to our Membership page.
Thebes Temple No. 87
Thebes Temple No. 87 meets on the first Wednesday of the month, January through June and September through December. We meet at the Luther B. Turner Masonic Lodge, 2933 Valleyview Drive, Columbus, Ohio. Our sessions start at 1:00 pm and are preceded by a light lunch at 11:30 am.
While we meet formally once a month, we also have many fun activities and fundraisers scheduled throughout the year. We directly support the Lexington Shriners Hospital by collecting a variety of items such as pop tabs, pillows, and personal toiletry items. We also meet the second Wednesday of most months to sew and craft items needed by the children being cared for at the Lexington Shriners Hospital.
